RightStart Families
Opened as Project
Triumph in 1988 at 22 N. Kildare RightStart Families focuses on
preventing developmental delays in children. This program targets pregnant
women and making sure that they receive proper care during and
after pregnancy, assessing the child at three months and after
that twice yearly. Project Triumph provides the following services
to over 180 participants yearly.
- In-home
visits to assess the needs of the family in the home and make
sure referral services for the home have been obtained and
properly being used
- Parenting
sessions using the “MELD/PAT” model for growing families, where parents provide
support and information to each other to learn everyday living
skills
- Developmental assessment of children 0-3 years old
- Active
men/ fathers support group
- Parent /
child interaction activities and early intervention activities
- Support to
women who have had Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS)
involvement
- Transportation for parents to and from educational workshops on
abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, substance use, nutrition workshops,
budgeting, medical and psychological referral
- Assistance for
DCFS reunification of families
- Child care and nutritious meals
- Community
Advocacy
- Family/Group outings
Program Requirements:
Only parents and children 0-3 can partake in most
activities/services, but any family with needs is serviced and
referred by staff.
