COMPONENTS OF AMTP
Phase I: AMTP begins with an introduction to Advanced Manufacturing. Participants learn the fundamentals of CNC machines, blueprint reading, and 3D Milling. Having an understanding of the common units of measurement and the ability to convert units of measurement from one to another, are essential skills in Advanced Manufacturing Technology. CNC Operators program numerical data into a computer operated CNC Lathe.
Phase II: Participants begin to learn the principles and application of technology in advanced manufacturing. Participants walk through the theory and hands-on training in the set-up, operation, and programming of a CNC mill and CNC lathe. Emphasis is placed upon developing safe work habits to operate CNC machines. After successful completion of this phase, participants will be able to demonstrate skills in programming, set-up, and operation, and manufacture small parts using a CNC lathe and mill.
Phase III: Participants will be introduced to 3D Printing for Manufacturing. Participants will learn about additive manufacturing, fundamentals of additive manufacturing materials and how to design and build 3D-printed metal parts.
To be considered for enrollment in the Advanced Manufacturing program there is an application, assessment, and orientation that must be completed. Final eligibility for enrollment will be determined upon full completion of the assessment. Prior manufacturing industry experience is NOT required.
