Advanced Manufacturing Training Coming to the West Side With BLUE1647, Bethel Partnership

    (Chicago IL) Residents in Austin and surrounding West Side neighborhoods now have better access to advanced manufacturing and tech training thanks to a new partnership between Blue1647 and Bethel New Life.

    The partnership will combine resources from both organizations to provide residents with education and training opportunities to land jobs in advanced manufacturing. The classes will be held in a 10,000 sq. ft. space owned by Bethel at 1140 N. Lamon Ave. in Austin, and will house equipment such as 3D printers and milling machines.

    “The American and Chicago manufacturing sectors are both poised to
    see a major resurgence due to the rapid integration of IT and Advanced
    Manufacturing techniques, ” Lori Vallelunga, president and CEO of
    Bethel New Life, said in a statement. “We need to cultivate a new
    generation of locally based, entrepreneurial companies that can
    generate the additional jobs above-and-beyond those that already
    exist, and prepare local residents to be qualified for the resulting
    positions in order to bring about sustainable community transformation
    on the West Side.”
