Workforce Elevation Coach

We are looking for a Workforce Elevation Coach that is committed to supporting individuals in total transformational change.

Our Workforce Elevation Coach will succeed in meeting participants at their current level providing personalized career coaching and job placement support to achieve their next level of success. The WE Coach will inform, support and implement the strategy for career elevation programs in high opportunity career sectors that pay living wages. The WE Coach has the ability to articulate and demonstrate the value of Bethel’s Workforce Elevation programming to participants, partners, and communities-at-large and contribute to fostering an environment that will lead to sustainable success of the organizations workforce elevation programs and its participants.


Serve as the central point of contact for WE participants providing career coaching and job placement support; proactively identify and mitigate barriers to success as identified through engagement with participant.

Identify, develop and manage job leads for WE participants; foster and support relationships with industry partners.

Develop, modify and facilitate industry-specific career development curriculum as required.

Provide ongoing employment retention services including facilitating access to online job searching, job bank, and other technological assistance, as needed.

Maintain accurate case notes, individual career plans and documented steps toward goal achievement; track and document engagement, eligibility, assessments and achievements through the lifecycle of the program.

Maintain accurate electronic and paper records; submit required reporting metrics to key stakeholders as requested.

Conduct intake and exit process (to include informational session, orientation, testing and pre/post evaluations) for the WFD programs.

Recruit and motivate local residents to participate in workforce elevation opportunities offered by Bethel and its training partners.

Implement evaluation process for outcomes assessment and achieve established goals while maintaining Bethel New Life standards and workforce engagement policies.



Bachelor’s Degree in education, counseling or another relevant degree; or a minimum of 4 years of experience working with adults in career development, job development or job placement role.

Must have work experience within the last 5 years in career development, job development or job placement.

Certified in adult education (or certifiable) strongly desired but not required.

Experience coaching and mentoring adults through career transitions.

Ability to develop basic curriculum and lesson plans.

Strong understanding of career and technical programs and all the components within.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including a demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively and to make effective public presentations.

Ability to establish clear objectives, monitor progress, and achieve workforce engagement goals within designated parameters.

Proficient with technology, web-based applications and Microsoft Office, and experience using client management database systems

Highly motivated, self-starter with high degree of initiative, enthusiasm, and ability to be flexible and work independently.

Must have ability to effectively manage time and prioritize projects

Excellent attention to detail and ability to exercise discretion

Ability to be a passionate and effective advocate for BNL, its mission, and vision

Car and valid Illinois driver’s license and insurance required.

Must be available evening and Saturday presentations.

Career Readiness Instructor (contract position)

The Career Readiness Instructor prepares participants for the successful transition into entry-level career opportunities in high potential industries as identified through Bethel New Life West Side Forward> Initiative.


3 or more year’s adult education teaching experience.  Previous experience in workforce development or career preparation programming desired. Knowledge of career placement services is preferred, and an understanding of personnel practices is desired.  An awareness of and appreciation for cultural and ethnic diversity is mandatory, as are excellent communication and organizing skills. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.  A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, human resources, or a related field is desired but not required.


REQUIRED SKILLS                                                            

Experience using a range of learning tools, resources, and equipment to engage participants at varying levels of skill competency.

Mastery of basic skills in computers and technology that include word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and online communications.

Excellent oral and written communication and organizing skills.



Prepare program participants for entry-level employment in the manufacturing industry and other industries as identified through West Side Forward> Initiative.

  1. Deliver career readiness training to program participants
  2. Develops and coordinates career development activities through the use of employment preparedness techniques and tools



Deliver career readiness curriculum in accordance with the established syllabus and lesson plans in alignment with career readiness goals.

Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that cater to the needs of a variety of ability ranges.

Works closely with the Director of Workforce Development to deliver job market responsive training components.

Track and document participants’ attendance, eligibility, assessments, and achievements through the lifecycle of program acceptance.

Recommend continuing training and supportive resources for participants to available to meet the needs beyond the scope of Bethel programming.

Monitor participants’ performance and report issues to the Director of Workforce Development.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of all materials and supplemental resources utilized to implement training

Participate in program orientation sessions as needed.
